Description

The Justice Mission and Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Mission are working on a campaign of humanitarian aid for El Salvador.

"In the night between November 7-8, 2009 heavy rains fell on El Salvador, as a result of Hurricane Ida, and caused landslides from the volcano Chinchontepec and flooding of rivers in the municipalities of San Vicente, Verapaz, San Cayetano and Tepetitan, Istepeque and Tecoluca and in all municipalities in the Department of San Vicente. This storm has left a terrible trail of damage: 124 have been found dead, there are missing persons, houses destroyed or damaged, ruined fields and crops, damaged roads, all the overland routes to the municipalities affected are inaccessible, as well as damage to essential services as lack of water, electricity, etc.."

*The number of casualties is now over 136 people, 10,000+ have been affected and over 2,000 people are missing. Numbers are increasing on a daily basis.

We are inviting and urging all organizations and individuals to join us in this campaign to bring humanitarian help to El Salvador.
As of this moment we are gathering donations. This is anything from clothing, canned and dry (inperishable) foods, medical supplies and monetary help. Please, no actual medicines however.
We also invite individuals and organizations to volunteer time in order to help us to receive and organize donations, and eventually to pack up trucks.

We will be open for donations from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm daily.

Please help us spread the word and contribute to this cause!

The strategy:

The Justice Mission, along with all the help from individuals and organizations, will drive all the donations gathered to El Salvador NEXT WEEK.
Our goal is to fill two semi-trucks with donations, and as of right now we have a mobile clinic ready with supplies and doctors to drive to El Salvador as well.
